After six wonderful years, The General Public’s brick-and-mortar shop is coming to a close. This decision was not made lightly—it came with a lot of thought, reflection, and yes, many tears.

On the sweet side of this bittersweet moment: I’ve been accepted into a very cool (and competitive!) graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Montana. I’m incredibly excited to begin this new chapter. While running this shop has been one of the most life-changing and meaningful experiences of my life, I’ve come to realize that it’s not sustainable for the long term—for a lot of reasons.

What a wild time to have started a small business—thank you all for helping me survive through a pandemic, a recession or two, and some very heavy world moments. Your support has meant everything.

Though our physical space is closing, the Houseline will continue! I’ll keep creating unique pieces for the line, as I have since 2016.

We’ll also have a small selection of items available on our beautiful new website (have you seen it yet?!). I’ll still be doing events and pop-ups here and there, but with an intensive program ahead, consistency might be a little up in the air.

Our last day in the shop will be May 31st—so soon! Not what I expected, but sometimes life picks up momentum and you just have to go with it.

We will still have a limited online presence, but I want to be honest: I’m carrying some pretty hefty business loans, and if The General Public has meant something to you, I would be incredibly grateful for your support during this final month. Come shop, spread the word, and help us liquidate inventory. Fixtures, furniture, and even our lovely plants will also be available for purchase.
